Certificate III in Beauty Services

The Certificate III in Beauty Services is a nationally recognised qualification available within the National Beauty Training Package, providing students with beauty treatment skills and necessary retail knowledge.

Entry requirements
  • You must be 15 years (or mature age)
  • You must have successfully completed Year 10 of education
  • You must have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
  • You must possess excellent people skills

Career opportunities/vocational outcomes

This course may lead to work in the Beauty Industry in areas such as Beauty Salons, and Hairdressing Salons and Day Spas that provide beauty services

Include but not limited to direct marketing officer, market research assistant, marketing coordinator and public relations officer.

Program Articulation
 
Individuals who complete the Certificate III in Beauty Services are able to claim access to the award of credits towards the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or the Diploma of Beauty Therapy.

Program Duration


To ensure individual learning interests, needs and styles are met; the Australian Academy offers both full-time, part time and Distance Education programs. These are:

Full Time:
6 months      Part Time: 12 months
Distance Education (Determined by the individuals needs)

N.B. Face to face and correspondence courses can be tailored to an individual or group’s specific needs and requirements. Course Commencement

Courses commence in February, April, July and September each year for full time and part time applicants. Course commencement for Distance Education applicants will be decided on a case by case basis.

Delivery & Assessment Methods

Training and assessment is conducted in a friendly classroom setting that reflects a real salon environment. Training might include but is not limited to practical class sessions, written work, self-paced activities, group discussions, debate and practical work on clients. Practicing on real clients will make the student’s learning experience unique. Working on “Real Clients” gives students the necessary confidence in a variety of situations, and also gives the opportunity to apply, in a practical way, what has been taught in practical class sessions.

Recognition of Prior Learning
 
Participants with previous training and/or experience may apply for RPL. Participants who have completed courses with equivalent / matching learning outcomes, will be granted credit transfer.

Accreditation
 
Qualifications granted by Australian Academy are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). National Training Provider No: 31716

Course Structure

There are a number of Units of Competency that form the Certificate III in Beauty Services the Units of Competency listed below is included in the current Australian Academy course structure.
The course structure of the Certificate III in Beauty Services comprises twenty one (21) units of competency from the national qualification. The 21 units are made up of:
  • fifteen (15) core/compulsory units
  • six (6) elective units from the functional area of Beauty (Students to choose one stream only).
