Certificate II Makeup Services

Certificate II in Make-up Services has been designed as a standard entry level qualification for the Beauty industry. It applies to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to begin a career in the Beauty industry. Likely functions within the Beauty industry for those who achieve this level of qualification include working within clearly defined contexts and under supervision. It involves communicating in the workplace, performing routine salon/store functions, demonstrating skin care products and designing and applying make-up in general and specialist situations.

Entry Requirements
  • You must be 15 years (or mature age)
  • You must have successfully completed Year 10 of education
  • You must have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
  • You must possess excellent people skills
Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes

This course may lead to work in the Beauty Industry in areas such as Beauty Salons, and Hairdressing Salons and Day Spas that provide beauty services

Program Duration and Flexibility

To ensure individual learning interests, needs and styles are met; the Australian Academy offers both full-time, part time and Distance Education programs. These are:
  • Full Time: 6 months
  • Part Time: 12 months
  • Distance Education (Determined by the individuals needs)
Students are provided with:
  • Make-up accessories kit
  • Linen set
  • Student Top & Apron
Course Commencement

Courses commence in February, April, July and September each year for full time and part time applicants. Course commencement for Distance Education applicants will be decided on a case by case basis.

Delivery & Assessment Methods


Training and assessment is conducted in a friendly classroom setting that reflects a real salon environment. Training might include but is not limited to practical class sessions, written work, self-paced activities, group discussions, debate and practical work on clients. Practising on real clients will make the student’s learning experience unique. Working on “Real Clients” gives students the necessary confidence in a variety of situations, and also gives the opportunity to apply, in a practical way, what has been taught in practical class sessions.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Individuals with previous non formal and informal learning who have achieved the required learning outcomes, competency or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of a total qualification may be granted Recognition of Prior Learning.

Registration

Qualifications granted by AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts.

This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF 2007).
