Diploma in Business
This qualification reflects the role of individuals with substantial experience in a range of settings and who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to further develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.
Entry Requirements
There are no prerequisites for this course however it is desired that candidates enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake vocational education and training at certificate level, including:
- after achieving the BSB30107 Certificate III in Business or other relevant qualification/s or
- providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB30107 Certificate III in Business or
- with some vocational experience assisting in a range of environments providing administrative or operational support to individuals and/or teams but without a formal business qualification.
Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes
Include but not limited to administrator, project officer and working in a business environment, across a wide variety of industry sectors.
Program Articulation
Students who successfully complete this course are able to gain articulation into BSB50207 Diploma of Business or a range of other Diploma qualifications.
Program Duration
Full Time: 12 months
Part Time: 24 months
Course Commencement
Courses commence in February, April, July and September each year for full time and part time applicants.
Delivery Methods
This course is delivered through face to face classroom learning or by correspondence.
Assessment Methods
Students may be required to sit written and oral exams, participate in practical activities, complete assignments, presentations, vocational projects and role plays.
Students undertaking a course as part of a work based traineeship will be assessed in the workplace.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Participants with previous training and/or experience may apply for RPL. Participants, who have completed courses with equivalent / matching learning outcomes, will be granted credit transfer.

Qualifications granted by Australian Academy are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts.

Course Structure
To achieve a Diploma in Business, the qualification packaging rules requires completion of 8 units.
In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the characteristics of this qualification.
Units selected from other Training Packages must not duplicate units selected from or available within the BSB07 Business Services Training Package.
This course has been designed to reflect the packaging requirements of the Diploma in Business from the Business Services Training Package BSB07.
