Diploma of Marketing
This course is for people who want to develop the knowledge and skills to work in marketing management. You will develop a range of specialist marketing skills as well as other business and management skills that will allow you to function effectively as a manager in a marketing industry setting.
This qualification is aimed at make reflecting the role of individuals who possess a sound theoretical knowledge base in marketing management and demonstrate a range of managerial skills to ensure that marketing functions are effectively conducted in an organisation or business area. Typically they would have responsibility for the work of other staff and lead teams in conducting marketing campaigns.
Entry requirements
There are no prerequisites for this course however it is desired that candidates enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake vocational education and training at certificate level, including:
- after achieving the BSB41307 Certificate IV in Marketing or other relevant qualification/s
- or providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB41307Certificate IV in Marketing
- or with vocational marketing experience but new to the role of marketing team leader/supervision or management and without formal marketing qualifications
- or with vocational marketing experience in marketing team leader/supervision or management, seeking to consolidate skills and knowledge in managing the marketing function within an organisation but without formal marketing qualifications.
Career opportunities/vocational outcomes
Include but not limited to marketing manager, product manager and public relations manager.
Program Articulation
Students who successfully complete this course are able to gain articulation into BSB60507 Advanced Diploma of Marketing or a range of other Advanced Diploma qualifications.

Full Time: 12 months
Part Time: 24 months

Course Commencement
Courses commence in February, April, July and September each year for full time and part time applicants.
Delivery Methods
This course is delivered through face to face classroom learning, online learning at students' self pace or by correspondence.
Assessment Methods
Students may be required to sit written and oral exams, participate in practical activities, complete assignments, presentations, vocational projects and role plays.
Students undertaking a course as part of a work based traineeship will be assessed in the workplace.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Participants with previous training and/or experience may apply for RPL. Participants, who have completed courses with equivalent / matching learning outcomes, will be granted credit transfer.

Qualifications granted by Australian Academy are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). National Training Provider No: 31716
Course Structure
To achieve a Diploma of Marketing the qualification packaging rules requires completion of 8 units:
- 5 marketing units
- plus 3 elective units:
- a minimum of 2 elective units must be selected from the Training package suggested elective units
- The other 1 elective unit may be selected from the remaining suggested elective units, the BSB07 Business Services Training Package or any other currently endorsed National Training Package. If not listed within the units of this qualification, 1 unit may be selected from either a Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma qualification.
In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the characteristics of this qualification.
This course has been designed to reflect the packaging requirements of the Diploma of Marketing BSB51207 from the Business Services Training Package BSB07.
Units selected from other Training Packages must not duplicate units selected from or available within the BSB07 Business Services Training Package.
